Breast in Translation

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in females worldwide. The implementation of personalized treatment strategies is contributing to raise breast cancer cure rates and to prolong the survival of patients with advanced disease. Taking achievements of basic science into everyday clinical practice remains a major issue, and it is addressed through translational research, which aims to bridge the gap between basic and clinical research. In the rapidly evolving scenario of scientific discoveries, cutting-edge technologies, new analytic tools and innovative drugs, contamination between disciplines is key to fuel the translational process. This course focuses on “hot” translational research areas in the field of breast cancer from the basic science, methodological and clinical perspectives. Moreover, specific workshops are aimed at providing tools to assess the quality and value of research result in the different disciplines. The aim is to disseminate knowledge as well as fuel the interdisciplinary discussion and sharing of ideas around translational research in breast cancer.
